Using Vinegar To Freshen A Room

My best friends mom always had a small bowl of vinegar sitting on her kitchen table and it took me awhile to figure out why. Well I never would have guessed at the time but she was using vinegar to absorb the smells around its environment.  Cathy was a light smoker and her house never had that smoker smell.  I swear it had to do with the vinegar she had sitting around the table.  Even when they would have big parties and all the aunts and uncles would be sitting around the table, the next morning you never would have been able to tell.  It was amazing!

Vinegar is cheap and sure beats the price of an aerosol. Plus it’s not harmful if it is drank or dumped unexpectedly on the carpet. It might freshen the room a little more than desired but it won’t hurt or stain.

I keep a couple of small bowls hidden behind photographs throughout the house and swap them out at the first of the month. This really helps keep the dog and little kid smell at bay. You know the smell I am talking about, that one  that just seems to follow the boys after they hit the age of three. I mean seriously the kiddo gets out of the shower and there is the smell?

Do you have a frugal tip that keeps your house in tip top shape?

I use vinegar to clean my house because of it’s disinfecting power. Not sure I would want to smell it sitting around though lol

I love using Vinegar to freshen up my home. I like the fact there are no chemicals being used. I love soaking cucumbers in Vinegar too. I lost 20 pounds doing that…lol Great tips!

I love using vinegar around the house. I like to buy it by gallon.

Heat lemon juice in the microwave – stop the microwave before the juice has dried out – the microwave will be cleaned out easily. Just wipe with a sponge.
