Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I live in beautiful Victoria BC Canada, which is on the east coast of Vancouver Island.I was seriously injured in a horseback riding accident in Oct 2009, it has always been my favorite pasttime, sadly I will not be returning to the saddle ever again and needed to find something to fill my time when not at my day job.
One day my special man and I were pursuing a funky little bookshop in a funky little town when I spotted a book on leathercrafting. I thumbed through the book and was instantly enthralled by the versatility of leather.
I have always loved the smell, textures, colours and varieties of leather and decided I wanted to work with it. I purchased the book, and used some of the basic ideas in it to create my own versions. It has just blossomed from there.

When did you make your first piece?
My first piece was the black and white Heart’s Desire Stitched Pillow. I was so excited to make it.


What is your favorite item in your store and why?
My favorite piece is the said pillow.  It is so soft and supple.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I started my etsy store in March 2010. I felt this was the best venue for showing and selling my creations.

Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them or what was your first piece you sold?
My first piece sold was a white business card holder, that was pretty exciting, any sale is exciting!!

Where do you get your inspiration for your pieces?
 I never know what I am going to make when I am purchasing leather. I seek out interesting pieces online and when they arrive I lay them out and put my imagination to work. Leather comes in many different weights and thicknesses and my creations are dependant upon those factors.

Do you have plans for expansion?
I work full-time outside of the home, so I have no plans to expand at this time, I am far too busy as it is!! Of course, more sales might have an impact on that!

Lori has some great leatherwork and it’s easy to find a use for everything she sells.  My mom used to teach leathercraft in 4-H and I remember the hours that go into working one piece.  I can’t imagine the time and care put into making the items that I see in Lori’s shop.
