Crocheting4baby and Giveaway! – CLOSED

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I am a New Yorker! I am 28 and have been married for 2 whole years! I love spending time with family, crafting, dancing, and just being silly. I have a 17 month old daughter who I am so lucky to spend every waking moment with!
 
Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I get so excited when I made something new that I want to share it with everyone!
 
How did you come up with your Etsy shop name?
I love to crochet so I titled my shop crocheting4baby since I love to make baby items. Now that my “baby” is walking and getting into everything I am taking on new projects but I am still crocheting here and there.
What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I absolutely love the necklace onesies! They are so fun to make and I love how cute they look once they are worn! I made my daughter one she wore for Christmas Eve and everyone thought it was the cutest!
Do any of your pieces have a memorable story behind them?
Every time I crochet a baby blanket it takes me back to when I was pregnant making one for my daughter. She is growing so fast!
What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
There is beauty in being unique. I love things that are different; things that you can’t find in stores.
How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
Well I have always loved to crochet so that was the first thing that came to mind. Then I started making a onesie for my daughter and that was fun too! I love making new things!
If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?
I would really love to create on canvas. I have always loved painting and drawing. I have seen so many wonderful pieces of art using so many different techniques that I would love to try!
 
Why should people buy handmade?
You will never see anything like a handmade item! No two are exactly alike! I also love buying from real people who I can get to know and read the story about the item they are selling.
Any advice on selling things handmade?
I am pretty new to it but I have learned to always carry business cards with you! You never know who you might meet and what will come up! (and give some to friends and family too!)
Apart from creating beautiful pieces, what else do you do?
I work full time taking care of a wonderful 16 month old for another family. The best part about it is that I get to bring my daughter with me every day!
Do you have plans for expansion?
Not really. Right now I am just working at my own pace and spending time with my family.
