How to Find Deals on Homeschool Curriculum

Homeschooling can get expensive when it comes to buying a curriculum. Many homeschooling families are working on a single income and need to make it stretch. A great way to get the most of your homeschool budget is to find deals on homeschool curriculum. These tips to find deals on homeschool curriculum can be a great way to save money while giving your child a great education.

How to Find Deals on Homeschool Curriculum

Many curriculum sales sites hold regular sales to pull in new customers. Many of these sales happen in the spring and summer and are a great opportunity to find deals on your homeschool curriculum while you are working on your basic homeschool planning. Keep an eye on your favorite sellers like Rainbow Resource to catch these deals on curriculum that is harder to find elsewhere.

One of my favorite ways to get a deal on a homeschool curriculum is to take advantage of clearance sales. From, workbooks to discontinued editions of popular curriculum clearance deals are a great way to save money on books and curriculum staples. Recently several online curriculum stores shut down and had some amazing clearance sales that really helped homeschool families afford to get the curriculum they need.

One of the best ways to get a deal on homeschool curriculum is to buy your curriculum used. Many families try a new curriculum and decide that they are just not right for them. This happens more often than you think but can be a great advantage for you to get a good deal for your family. Many textbooks never get written in and often can be found on sale used when families no longer need them. Sites like Amazon and thrift books are great for finding used textbooks for a very low price. For major popular curriculum, choices check eBay to find good deals on used curriculum.

Facebook groups designed for fans of a particular curriculum program are a great place to find cheap homeschool curriculum. A lot of times these families spend a large chunk of money on popular curriculum programs and love to resell them to others when they are done to get some of their money back. Join groups for the curriculum you are interested in to find these deals while also learning a lot of great tips and information for using the program.

Libraries are a great place to not only find homeschool curriculum that you can use for free but to also find extremely cheap textbooks and curriculum. A lot of libraries do not see enough turnaround to make stocking textbooks for kids worth the work and shelf space. When they get donations of these types of resources most will add them directly to their next book sale.

A great opportunity in large homeschooling communities are curriculum swaps. These are where homeschool communities and co-ops come to together to swap curriculum they have saving everyone a large chunk of money. These mutually beneficial swaps are great if you have the community to pull them off. If one is not already planned in your area you can always plan your own curriculum swap. For an even better turn out make it part of a fun homeschool field day.

Sometimes the best deal you can get on homeschool curriculum is not in the shopping but in the value of the curriculum, you are choosing. If you have multiple students to worry about you can take advantage of a curriculum that allows you to teach more than one child at a time or to use with each of your children as they grow into it. Finding a curriculum that lets you do more can help you save money overall compared to buying cheap one-time-use curriculum when you have multiple children to educate.

A graphic announcing a giveaway to the online store Rainbow Resource.
Many homeschool moms are busy preparing and finalizing curriculum choices for the upcoming school year.  And some homeschoolers are trucking on through the summer months as one school year flows into the next.  Whatever camp you are in, you’re bound to need new homeschool curriculum, and winning a gift card to a major online homeschool retailer would surely help you check some things off of your curriculum wish list.

I’m teaming up with some other great homeschool bloggers to bring you a HUGE gift card giveaway to Rainbow Resource Center.  We will be blessing TWO homeschool families with a $250 for you to use on curriculum, books, games, puzzles, or whatever educational supplies you might need!

We know homeschooling can put a financial strain on families – whether it’s from living on one-income or buying curriculum for multiple children – the financial aspect of it can be stressful.  Our hope is that we can bless a couple of homeschool families (although we wish we could bless many more) so they can buy the curriculum and supplies they need.
