Tips For Getting Your Kids to Eat More Vegetables
Wouldn’t it be a magical world if all kids ate their vegetables? The bottom line is that not all kids love vegetables and we’ve got to make it a little more fun for them. It’s not that moms have the extra time in the day to count how many vegetables our kids should eat, but we know it’s super important for the benefits of vitamins and minerals. While I try my best to hide vegetables in things that I cook by using dehydrated vegetables, that isn’t always the best idea or most convenient.
Tips to help get your kids eat more vegetables
#1. Start from the root up
Why not get your kids more involved in gardening? It’s so fascinating to watch something grow from a seed into a plant of vegetable. This isn’t a proven way to get your kids to eat more vegetables, but it’s a start. Tell them about how cool it is that they get to eat something that they grew from their own two hands. There are so many lessons to be taught through the art of gardening.
#2. Eat more vegetables yourself
You’re an adult, so you can eat whatever you want. If your kids do not see you eating more vegetables, why would they eat more? As a parent, you really should take a step back to see what you’ve been eating in front of your kids. Make it a habit to eat more vegetables yourself and become a “healthy eating role model” for your kids.
#3. Buy more vegetables
We live in a very processed world where candy bars are cheaper than apples. It’s really ludicrous to think about the high cost of vegetables and fruits in today’s economy. However, if you budget and plan it right, you can afford to buy more vegetables. In fact, buying more fresh veggies and less processed foods, like potato chips and Little Debbie’s, will allow more room in your grocery budget.
#4. Get Creative
You have probably seen several pictures on Pinterest and Facebook that depict these cute recipes using vegetables. Take full advantage of your creativity and these recipes. We live in a very “seeing is believing world.” If your kids think it looks good, then they will be more prone to trying it. Don’t pressure your kids into eating vegetables. Instead, you can let them join in on the vegetable art creating fun.
Getting kids to eat more vegetables is something you may struggle with their whole childhood, but at least you can say you tried. Parents try many different things to get their kids to eat more vegetables. At least these ways are fun and creative.
