Meet Etsy Owner Erica from Little Worm

Meet  sewer, embroider and quilter Erica,

Where are you from and tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from Albany Oregon and have lived here most of my life. I have a wonderful husband who I have been with for almost 17yrs and we have 3 great kids.  I also do daycare so I have 3 “extra” kids too. 🙂 Between family, daycare, my other job and Etsy (sewing in general) I’m a pretty busy girl.

Why did you start your Etsy shop?
I love to sew, quilt and do machine embroidery but unfortunately don’t have room for all of the things I want to make. When I found Etsy I was like “Woohoo! I can make tons of stuff now.” LOL When I see a pattern that I want to try its nice to know that I can make it, put it in my shop and maybe go to someone who will treasure if for years.

What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
This is my favorite item in my shop (right now) http://www.etsy.com/listing/10457396/spring-time-quilted-wall-hanging I love the colors in it and the feel of spring. I had a lot of fun making it with a technique that I had never tried before.

What style do you specialize in?
I don’t think that I have a specific style. I tend to lean toward traditional when quilting. I honestly just make whatever feels right at the moment.

What is your inspiration for your work?
All over the place. I love the colors in nature to help me pick out fabrics. I also like making things that are useful (not always though). I look around my house and think “What could I make that would make this more organized?” I have made many quilted bill holders and wall quilts with pockets. Here is one item that was inspired by clutter: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=13119914

Do you have plans for expansion?
No. Im pretty happy being small. At least for now.:)

Can you be found anywhere else on the internet?
I can be found on Flickr and I also have a blog.

Anything else you would like us to know?
I really enjoy what I do. I have been making crafts for as long as I can remember. I always wanted to learn to quilt, even though nobody I knew did. When my son was about 1yr old I was lucky enough to get my own machine. Once I got my hands on a few quilting books at the library there was no stopping me. 🙂 For about 10 years all I made was quilts but in the last few years I have been doing a lot of bags and other small items. With not as much free time as I would like its kind of nice to actually finish things. 🙂
