Welcome to Tip Tuesday! Where I plan on sharing a new tip with you each week. Something that will save a little time and generally is done on the cheap!
Treat Your Winter Hands & Feet To A Cheap Manicure Or Pedicure
I love getting my nails done and a manicure but the weekly cost can add up. I mean $20 for the manicure/re-base and $40 for a pedicure really adds up. Doing that twice a month is pretty much the cost to feed my family. Don’t tell me I am alone on this. Plus getting the time to make sure to actually schedule that appointment and guarantee one of the kids won’t get sick just isn’t in my life right now.
My plan to get the good looking toes I want for the summer? I hit up the local cosmetology unit at the college. During the school year they are are open five days a week for manicures, pedicures, hair appointments, facials, massages and more. Pretty much anything your salon can do they can do, but for a much cheaper price.
With the cheaper price comes te work of a learner, I mean it doesn’t look bad but don’t expect the toes of a celebrity. Actually I have to say sometimes they look better because these girls are young and have to do lots of different techniques each week. I have to actually say I get more nail art at my local cosmetology center than I have ever received in a nail salon.
EVER.
Plus no added price for the nail art. I agree that this isn’t really a long term solution. You don’t actually get the same person every time (which means different techniques and style) but it works splendid for a girl’s day, a pick me up or a little get away during the day. Before you leave the work is inspected by an instructor and I am told that if you get a hair cut and they really screw it up the school will pay for a salon visit to have it fixed. I have not experienced that yet but I have seen some of the work that comes out of the center and I would have no problems getting a new haircut.
Before I head out on a Spring Break trip with the family I know I will be hitting up my local cosmetology center to get some summer toes before I head to a warmer climate.
What services could you benefit from at a cosmetology center?

12 years agoThat sounds neat. We don’t have one near us in our small town so I occasionally splurge for a salon visit.

12 years agoI still treat myself once a month for a mani in the winter, but other than that I can paint them myself on a weekly basis. Great tips!
