5 years ago I learned the importance of having young ones at home and formula on hand. I had over 200 ounces of breast milk in the freezer and a 3 month old who couldn’t have an ounce of it!
I had tested positive for meningitis and was laying in a hospital bed in and out of consciousness and the doctor had advised my husband not to use any of the frozen milk in the freezer because it’s unknown how the meningitis could play into the milk. What’s a husband to do when he has to make quick thinking decisions on how to feed our 3 month old at home? Grab the first can of infant formula he can find.
Clearly I survived the meningitis but it quickly ended my breastfeeding days with our son Corbin. Not only was all the frozen milk to be thrown out I had been sent home on some heavy medications being administered through a PICC line with effects on breast milk unknown. We tried several different brands over the next few weeks to see which formula we could use. After many tries, we decided to settle on Member’s Mark Infant Formula. A few reasons we chose this formula was that it was in our budget. Being a pumping/nursing mama, I was coming from a zero based budget, I had never had to buy formula before. I was pleasantly surprised when Members Mark Advantage Infant Formula was right in our new formula budget range, music to my ears!
ast forward a few years and we now have a new baby boy on our hands. In case I ever need to leave Colsen with his daddy, we keep Member’s Mark Infant Formula on hand. The nutritional value is just what we need when I can’t be there. I love that I know he’s getting the best, even if it is from someone else.
The price is also still great and fits nicely into our new family of five budget. When talking to our pediatrician, he also recommended using something along the lines of Advantage 1 when it comes to supplementing. Colsen can get all of the vitamins and nutrition he need, when I’m away for a bit. Member’s Mark Infant Formula is clinically proven to be more like breast milk and provides complete nutrition for baby’s first year. If you’re a member, you will save an average of $500 over other brands. How awesome is that?
As mom’s we know that children can be expensive! Every aspect from nutrition, diapers, clothes, carseats and other big ticket items. Sam’s Club would like to help and currently is hosting a sweepstakes where 5 winners will each win a sample of Member’s Mark Infant Formula and a $100 gift card. What could you do with an extra $100?
To enter the sweepstakes head on over to the Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Infant Formula website and follow the directions on the widget. You can gain entries for commenting on their blog post and visiting the page to learn more about Member’s Mark Infant Formula.

9 years agoI am so glad that you survived the meningitis. It must have been scary. So sorry for all that lost milk but I am glad that you found a formula that worked for your son. I had a similar experience with my daughter. I was hospitalized for five days and because of my fever (105) I couldn’t give her my milk. She was bottle fed formula those days. She did return to the breast but I was glad that she took the formula as well as she did those times.

9 years agoIt’s wonderful when mothers can breastfeed, but it’s also important to recognize that formula is a viable option too. I did both and would suggest this formula to any new mom!
