If you love easy and addicting snacks kids and adults will love, these Ranch Cheez-Its are the perfect recipe. Bursting with that classic ranch flavor we all know and love, you’ll find it difficult to keep them available. Perfect for an after school snack or even something to munch on during movie night.
To make these ranch Cheez-Its, you’ll need: regular Cheez-Its crackers, olive oil, dry buttermilk ranch salad dressing mix, and garlic powder.
The Cheez-Its brand is coming up on its 100th year of being around. 2021 will be the company’s 100th official birthday. In the past 100 years, Cheez-Its have gone through a lot of changes, including being owned by four companies throughout its lifetime. However, one thing has remained the same – Cheez-Its are loved by all ages and cultures. No, I wasn’t paid to say this, it’s a well-known fact that it’s a go-to brand for a snack everyone will be satisfied with and not complain about.
Did you know the color of a Cheez-It comes from the annatto extract which is a natural dye added to the mix? Paprika is the other ingredient that aids in the Cheez-It’s famous bright orange color as well as the slightly spicy aftertaste. What I’m trying to say is, you can’t go wrong when using Cheez-Its as a snack option, which is why this Ranch Cheez-Its recipe is a must for parties, movie nights, or after school snack options. We make them often just because we enjoy having them in the pantry any time we feel like grabbing a handful.
How Do You Make Ranch Cheez-Its?
It takes very little effort to make this zesty snack. Really, it’s just tossing the ingredients together and letting the flavor bake in. Begin by preheating your oven to only 250 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, mix the ranch seasoning and olive oil together well. Toss the Cheez-Its into the oil mixture and give them a good toss or stir so that all of them are coated nicely. Spread the crackers out on the cookie sheet and bake for up to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Tips for Making Ranch Cheez-Its
- Be careful that you don’t cook the crackers too long as they will burn or taste burnt if left in too long. Remember, you’re just wanting the flavor to bake into them, not actually cook the cracker itself.
- Ensure that your crackers are coated fully before spreading them on the pan and baking them. Without the proper coating, they could burn or lose taste.
- Keep the crackers in a sealed back or airtight container in a dry place. They should last around two weeks.
Common Questions About Ranch Cheez-Its
Is a Cheez-It a Cracker or a Chip?
The original Cheez-Its are considered crackers, based on those who produce and sell the snack. However, the Cheez-It brand also sells a chip version of the famous cracker that has been popular for a few years now. These chips are called Cheez-It’s Grooves and are larger than the original cracker. However, even though they’re considered a chip in this form, they’re still sold right with the other Cheez-Its in the cracker/snack aisle, which I prefer because then they’re easier to grab and find this way.
Who Makes Cheez Its?
Since the Cheez-It name has passed through four companies in the 100 years they’ve been around, it can be difficult to keep up with who owns what brand. Currently, the Kellogg company owns the rights to the Cheez-It name and has no plans to give it up any time soon. Which, who can blame them? With this snack and name being so popular across the world, no one would want to give up those rights.
Although Cheez-Its are delicious all on their own, it’s fun to add extra flavors to them as a bonus. I prefer them with the extra flavor and added cooking time because it gives them an extra satisfying crunch and burst of flavor. So, give these Ranch Cheez-Its a whirl, and fall in love with them just as much as we have.
