Are you ready for the easiest cake you’ve ever made in your life? Most of us have soda on hand. I mean, let’s be real here, if it’s not coffee we have in our hands, it’s soda. If you’re one of the more disciplined people in life that stays away from soda effectively, I envy you, but I’m not one of them.
This Mt. Dew Cake is great for last-minute dessert ideas because you don’t have to have all the ingredients it lists on the cake mix box. No more bugging the neighbors for eggs or oil. As long as you have a cake mix handy or can grab one at the store quickly, you have hardly any steps to worry about other than dumping the soda and mix together and tossing it in the oven. Kick up those feet and take a minute to breathe because this cake will save you a ton of time.
How Do You Make 2 Ingredient Mountain Dew Cake?
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and prepare the pan as needed (greasing, etc.).
Make sure to throw a little bit of the cake mix on your face so it looks like you worked hard.
Combine the cake mix and a 12-ounce can of Mountain Dew in a large bowl and mix it well. Pour the cake mixture into your prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
Pop in the oven and bake 18 – 25 minutes or until a toothpick, inserted in the center, comes out clean.
Tips for Making 2 Ingredient Mountain Dew Cake
- I promise you can’t mess this cake up. Even if you don’t have name brand Mt. Dew on hand, it will still work to make this cake. It will still turn up with the same flavor and you won’t skip a beat.
- The ingredients in Mt. Dew are what allow the cake to set up like it properly should without all those other ingredients. It’s all in the science and well, I don’t know the finer details of how it works other than, it just does.
- Depending on your oven and the cake pan you use, you may need to cook the cake a little longer than the instructions list.
- Vanilla or even lemon cake mix will work as a substitution for the yellow cake mix.
Commonly Asked Questions About Mountain Dew Cake
What Do You Suggest for Mountain Dew Cake Icing?
I had about half a container of icing in the fridge leftover from another dessert I did. So, I just heated that in the microwave for a few seconds and poured it over the dump cake with soda in order to make a thin icing. The cake comes out pretty sweet so, if you don’t end up adding frosting and icing, you won’t miss anything. I like to use whipped cream as my Mountain Dew cake icing.
Can I Make This Mt. Dew Cake With Other Soda?
Well, you won’t be able to call it Mt. Dew Cake if you end up using another soda. However, yes, you can definitely use other flavors of soda to accomplish a similar cake. I have found that using lighter sodas with lighter cakes and darker sodas with darker cakes, turns out better. Of course, you can mix and match as you please but, this is just my experience.

5 years agoOh, I love these cakes. So simple and fun. Like made-it-in-my-dorm’s-24-hour-lounge kind of fun. That was a long time ago. Yikes. Anyway, I love the idea of playing around with the flavors.
Another good simple combo is a chocolate cake mix with a can a pumpkin (15 oz I think… but look it up just in case!). And make sure you use pure pumpkin puree and NOT pie filling! These make the best chocolate muffins. 🙂
